Pune: The Shiv Sena (BT) initially indicated that they would contest the civic elections independently. But the party has now become cautious and has concentrated on 40-50 seats.

The city unit of the party has started preparing to get a maximum number of corporators elected after realising its strength in Hadapsar, Parvati, Vadgaon Sheri and Sinhagad Road areas.

Shiv Sena (BT) City Unit President Nana Bhangire said, “We will reach out to the people effectively with the government schemes. We are focusing on certain city areas as a part of civic election preparations. We will try to get the maximum number of seats from these areas.”

All parties have started preparing for the civic polls after the State Assembly elections. It is still not clear whether the ruling and opposition will contest these elections as the Maha Yuti and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), respectively.

However, the Shiv Sena (BT) has begun holding meetings in all eight assembly segments in the city. In the first stage, it will focus on 40-50 seats. A meeting was held in the Hadapsar Assembly constituency under the chairmanship of party City Unit President Nana Bhangire.

It was decided in the meeting to reach out to a maximum number of citizens with the Maha Yuti-led state government’s work and schemes, party’s aims and objectives and the party organisation. The party’s strength has increased in Hadapsar, Parvati, Vadgaon Sheri under the Khadakwasla segment. Hence, a strategy is being chalked out to get as many corporators as possible from these areas.

The Maha Yuti contested the State polls under the leadership of the then CM Eknath Shinde, who is the DyCM now. It implemented schemes such as the Ladki Bahin Yojana. The ruling alliance got a huge mandate. The Shiv Sena (BT) has prioritised to convey these schemes to a maximum number of citizens.
