Pune: Woman, three others booked for manhandling members of Anti-Encroachment Department on Fergusson College Road

Pune: The Deccan Gymkhana Police registered an offence against four persons, including a woman, for manhandling members of the Anti-Encroachment Squad while they were taking action against illegal stall owners along the footpath on the Namdar Gopal Krishna Gokhale Path (Fergusson College Road).
The squad acted against encroachments in the Sagar Arcade area on Monday (December 6) evening. A member of the squad, Sachin Ghenge (29), resident of Manjari, lodged a complaint in this regard.
According to the police, illegal stalls were set up on FC Road. Hawkers ran businesses illegally on the footpath along the road. Pedestrians could not even walk on the pavement. Many complaints were lodged with the civic body. In this backdrop, action was taken against encroachments.
Action was taken against illegal stalls on FC Road on Monday. A woman and three others manhandled and abused members of the Anti-Encroachment squad. Four persons were booked for obstructing government work.
