Pune: Police Crackdown on Gambling Set Up in Puna Gate Lodge; Arrested Six, Seized Rs 73,210 and Gambling Paraphernalia

In a stern action against ongoing gambling dens in the city, Sinhagad Road Police took action against businessmen from Dhanori, Shivane, Kondhwa, Kothrud, and Warje Malwadi areas, who were playing the ‘Teen Patti’ game at Puna Gate Lodge on Sinhagad Road. These individuals were arrested by police on the night of January 5, and cash worth Rs 73,210 and gambling paraphernalia were seized from them.
The arrested businessmen have been identified as Ravindra Gundia Rathod (age 40, a resident of Srirang Empire, Dhanori); Hanumant Mansingh Rathod (age 40, a resident of West Coast, Shivane); Ramu Dasu Chavan (age 40, a resident of Shivneri Nagar, Kondhwa); Ambu Bhadru Rathod (age 40, a resident of Laxmi Nagar, Dahanukar Colony, Kothrud); Satyam Khimaya Rathod (age 38, a resident of Susrut Residency, Narhe); and Mohan Hari Chavan (age 36, a resident of Warje Malwadi).
This action was taken by the Sinhagad police on the basis of a complaint filed by Police Amaldar Vinayak Mohite at Sinhagad Police Station.
According to the information given by the police, Police Inspector (Crime) Uttam Bhajnawale, Assistant Police Inspector Vaishali Bhosale, Police Sub-Inspector Santosh Bhandwalkar, Police Constable Taru, Magar, Police Amaldar Patil, and Vinayak Mohite came to Santosh Hall on the night of January 5th to check on-record criminals in the area.
While they were searching for the accused, in the meantime, they got the information from their informant that some people were gambling in a room on the fifth floor of Puna Gate Lodge. Accordingly, the police reached Puna Gate Lodge at 10 p.m. and raided the room on the fifth floor. At that time, six people were gambling there by keeping money in a card game called Teen Patti.
In the subsequent action, police seized Rs 27,900 from Ravindra Rathod, Rs 1,400 from Hanumant Rathod, Rs 8,600 from Ramu Chavan, Rs 29,500 from Ambu Rathod, Rs 1,000 from Satyam Rathod, and Rs 4,800 from Mohan Chavan, which is collectively valued at Rs 73,210, and gambling paraphernalia from these accused. Police Sub-Inspector Santosh Bhandwalkar is investigating the case further.
