Pune: Crime Branch Police Arrested Serial Criminal from Katraj, Seized Pistol and 2 Cartridges from Him

A team from Unit 2 of the Crime Branch has taken decisive action and seized a pistol and 2 cartridges from a recidivist accused who earlier has been booked under the charges of attempted murder. The arrested accused has been identified as Soham Shashikant Waghmare (age 20, a resident of Taljai Vasahat, Sahakar Nagar).

As per the police information, police officers and the police amaldars of the crime branch were conducting a routine patrol on January 11. At that time, Police Amaldar Ujwal Mokashi, Shankar Kumbhar, and Sanjay Jadhav received information through their informant that a man was coming near Mastan Hotel on Katraj Road with a pistol.

This information was then given to Police Inspector Pratap Mankar. Accordingly, the police laid a trap near Mastan Hotel and detained Soham Waghmare. In a subsequent search, police seized a pistol worth Rs 48,800 and two cartridges from him.

In this regard, a case has been registered against him at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. It is learnt that a case of attempted murder has already been registered against Soham Waghmare earlier.

This action was taken by the team of Senior Police Inspector Pratap Mankar, Assistant Police Inspector Ashish Kavthekar, Amol Rasal, Police Sub-Inspector Nitin Kamble, Police Amaldar Ujwal Mokashi, Shankar Kumbhar, Sanjay Jadhav, Shankar Nevse, Amol Sarde, Ganesh Thorat, Omkar Kumbhar, Hanumant Kamble, Vinod Chavan, Pramod Kokane, Vijay Kumar Pawar, Rahul Shinde, Sadhana Tamhane, Nikhil Jadhav, Pushpendra Chavan, and Nagnath Rakh.

In this action, the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingale, and Assistant Police Commissioner Ganesh Ingle proved useful.
