Pimpri : Former corporator Balasaheb Hindlekar levels serious allegations against senior police officials and personnel
Pune / Pimpri : It seems the Commissioner of Police (CP) has directed action against illegal moneylenders within the jurisdiction of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. However, former corporator Balasaheb alias Sambhaji Arjun Hindlekar has levelled illegal moneylending allegations against some senior police officials and personnel.
A family tried to die by suicide recently due to harassment of a private moneylender in Chikhali. The son and his mother died while his father survived. Taking serious note of the incident, CP Vinoy Kumar Choubey directed strict action against private moneylenders. In this backdrop, Hindlekar wrote a letter to the CP and demanded action against moneylenders in the Police Department.
Hindlekar’s complaint stated, “Some senior police officials themselves are running moneylending business. A Sr PI attached with a police station is allegedly misusing his position and working at his whims and fancy. He is suspected to be protecting criminals in a moneylending case.
“A PSI used force against my son-in-law Atul Munde. Kidnapping, beating and threats were issued to recover loan repayment. The PI did not file a complaint and dilly-dallied investigating the matter.”
Hindlekar alleged that fake cases were registered at another police station against his son-in-law and son due to pressure from illegal moneylenders. Some police officials support such moneylenders and do not take action against them.
Hindlekar appealed to CP Choubey to take action against police officials involved in moneylending. He suspected that illegal moneylending was thriving with the support of some police personnel.
Hindlekar, through his application, demanded an in-depth probe into cases concerned.
Hindlekar’s allegations against police officials and personnel are serious. An urgent investigation into the issue is necessary. Citizens want to know what stance CP Choubey would take in this regard.
