However, in a daring daylight theft, thieves robbed this jewellery worth Rs 2.96 lakh from the woman’s house. The incident took place on January 23, when 65-year-old Anandabai Dashrath Khilari, a resident of Shiroli Tarfe Ale in Junnar taluka, had gone to work in the fields near her house. Upon returning at 2:30 pm, she found her belongings in disarray and a fertiliser bag containing her daughter’s jewellery missing. The bag, which had been tied to a peg in her shed, was stolen in one and a half hours.

The stolen items were containing gold ornaments of the plaintiff’s daughter. After that, the plaintiff lodged a formal police complaint regarding it. Upon learning of the incident, Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh directed the local crime branch to prioritise the case.

Since the incident occurred in a rural area, the police reviewed CCTV footage from nearby roads. A suspicious motorcycle passing during the time of the crime caught their attention. Upon questioning locals, it was revealed that the motorcycle was seen heading toward the complainant’s house and then returning shortly after.

Tracing the vehicle led the police to Bhimaji Sahebrao Gadge (35), a resident of Gadge Mala in Kalas, Parner taluka. He was found to be accompanied by Babaji Kashinath Yevale (36) and Tushar Bhausaheb Shirole (18), both from the same area.

Acting swiftly, the police laid a trap and apprehended the three suspects. During the arrest, they seized stolen goods worth Rs 1.9 lakh, including a motorcycle, a gold mangalsutra weighing two tolas, and two gold earrings. The accused revealed they had mortgaged an additional four tolas of gold ornaments in a cooperative bank, which will be recovered following legal formalities.

Upon learning that the crime had been uncovered, the complainant thanked the local crime branch team.

This action was taken by the team of Police Inspector Avinash Shilimkar of the Local Crime Branch, Assistant Police Inspector Mahadev Shelar of Narayangaon Police Station, Local Crime Branch Police Amaldar Deepak Sable, Sandeep Ware, Akshay Navale, Nilesh Supekar, Raju Momin, Atul Dere, Mangesh Thigale, Vikram Tapkir, and Hemant Virole under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, Additional Superintendent of Police Ramesh Chopde, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ravindra Chaudhar.
