Pune: The Surendra Pathare Foundation has been organising a Mega Blood Donation Camp on Republic Day for the past five consecutive years. It has become a talk of the town.
The mega blood donation camp was held at the Pathare Indoor Stadium on Republic Day (January 26). It was the 5th year of the initiative. Vadgaon Sheri MLA Bapusaheb Pathare inaugurated the camp. Earlier, the flag hoisting took place.
The Foundation has been holding the mega blood donation camp on Republic Day since 2021. In all, 1,644 blood bags were collected in 2021, 3,453 in 2022, 3,593 in 2023, 3,671 in 2024 while 3,465 blood bags were collected this year. Moreover, the Foundation also spread awareness about blood donation on the occasion.
Foundation President Surendra Pathare said, “The Mega Blood Donation Camp is our first resolution every year. We successfully hold it and then gear up for other social initiatives. Citizens’ overwhelming response is behind the success of the programme. They donate blood religiously every year, which is very satisfying. It has been our consistent effort to mitigate blood shortage faced by the health services. Blood donors, health workers, volunteers of the Foundation and all participating doctors make their valuable contribution to the camp.”
Senior Wrestling Organiser and Shiv Chhatrapati State Sports Award recipient Pandharinath (Annasaheb) Pathare extended his special good wishes to the initiative. Dignitaries from various walks of life visited the camp and extended their good wishes.
