In this backdrop, speaking in Pune, Telangana BJP MLA T Raja commented on the tomb. He said that he wanted to see India become ‘Hindu Rashtra’. T Raja said, “The Hindus from Maharashtra have demanded the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb. When will it be removed? I have now only one resolution: To make India Hindu Rashtra and to remove Aurangzeb’s tomb.” He claimed that it was not the demand of the Hindus from Maharashtra but of the Hindus across India. A local Marathi daily reported this quoting ANI.

‘It’s a poisonous sword’

Raja said, “Aurangzeb put his father in prison. He killed his own brothers and destroyed our temples. His tomb in Maharashtra is like a poisonous sword. Earlier, only the Hindus from Maharashtra wanted the removal of his tomb. Now, the Hindus across the country are asking, ‘why is the tomb still here?’”

‘I will also do karseva’

Raja supported the VHP and Bajrang Dal’s (BD) wish to conduct ‘karseva’ at the Aurangzeb tomb. Supporting their wish, Raja said, “They have said if the government is unable to remove the tomb, they will do ‘karseva’ at the tomb. I support their wish.”

Congress attack

The Congress criticised the VHP and the BD. Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar said, “The VHP and the BD have no work. They do not feel that the people in Maharashtra should live in peace. They want to slow the speed of development in the State. I want to tell them that Aurangzeb was here for 27 years. But he could do no wrong to Maharashtra. What will they gain by removing his tomb?”
