Pune: Woman IT engineer gangraped after offering soft drink laced with intoxicant

Pune: A woman IT engineer was offered a soft drink laced with intoxicant and gangraped in the city. She was also subjected to an unnatural act. Later, the assailants blackmailed her threatening to make her obscene pictures viral and extorted Rs 30 lakh from her and bought two i-phones using her credit card.

The incident took place at Fab Hotel Spring-in in Kandivali, Mumbai and in a car. The 33-year-old victim lodged a complaint at the Kalepadal Police Station. The police have registered offences against Tamim Harsalla Khan, resident of Kandivali, and his three friends under various sections of the IPC for rape, unnatural act, cheating, misappropriation, beating after threat, etc.

The case has been transferred to the Kandivali Police Station as the incident took place there. According to the police, the complainant hails from Karnataka. She stays in Pune as she works in the IT sector. She got to know Khan on Facebook in 2021.

Khan told her that his father had a big construction business, which he looks after. After befriending her, Khan promised to marry her. Therefore, she went to meet Khan in Kandivali. They met at Hotel Fab, where she was offered the intoxicating drink and raped. He took her to Pune and Mumbai and raped. He called his three friends when he sexually assaulted her in a car. His three friends committed an unnatural act with her in the car.

The accused threatened to make her obscene photos viral on social media. Later, they took Rs 10 lakh cash and forced her to take loans from various banks amounting to Rs 18 lakh. Thus, they took Rs 30 lakh from her. Moreover, they bought two i-phones using her credit card. When she sought her money back, Khan threatened to kill her. The Kandivali Police were investigating the case.
