Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital to be audited, State Health Department sets up committee after pregnant woman’s death

Pune: The State Health Department has decided to conduct an audit of Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Pune, where a pregnant woman was denied treatment as Rs 10 lakh was demanded for the same. Following a delay, the woman died due to excessive bleeding.
The deceased has been identified as Tanisha Bhise, BJP MLC Amit Gorkhe’s Personal Assistant Sushant Bhise’s wife. Following labour pains, Tanisha Bhise was taken to the hospital but the administration was adamant and sought Rs 10 lakh needed for the treatment first and refused immediate admission. Later, an agitation was launched in front of the hospital.
The State Health Department has now woken up and formed a committee to audit Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital. Five government officials are its members.
The State Health Department has directed the hospital to prepare a report. The committee chairman and members will personally visit the hospital and will investigate and file an audit report.
The committee members are Chairman Dr Radhakishan Pawar, Deputy Director, Health Services, Pune Circle, Pune, Member Dr Prashant Wadikar, Assistant Director, Health Services, Pune Circle, Pune, Member Dr Nagnath Yempalle, District Surgeon, District Hospital, Aundh, Pune, Member Dr Nina Borade, Chief Medical Officer, PMC, Pune, Member Dr Kalpana Kamble, Medical Officer (Gynaecologist), Health Services, Pune Circle, Pune.
The State Health Department has directed the committee to visit Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Pune and Manipal Hospital. The panel has been asked to thoroughly probe the incident and submit the audit report immediately with its clear feedback and necessary documents.
