Bharatiya Warkari Mandal renders service by singing bhajans

Pune: Hindustan’s first Ganpati Mandal Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Trust organised the Vasantik Chandan Utee celebration. Devotees soaked into bhajans presented by the Bharatiya Warkari Mandal on the occasion.

Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Trust organises various religious programmes throughout the year. On Friday (May 16), the Vasantik Chandan Utee (a traditional ritual) celebration was held to mark Sankashti Chaturthi. A layer of sandal paste is applied on the deity as a part of the ritual to symbolically protect it from the scorching heat in the summer.

Thus, devotees applied the paste comprising sandal, rose water, perfume, saffron, etc, on the idol of Ganpati. The temple premises were decorated with mogra and other flowers.

The Bharatiya Warkari Mandal rendered a service by singing devotional songs. The atmosphere was charged with devotion due to the melodious bhajans and with beats of the ‘mrudang’ and ‘taal’. Devotees beelined to bow down to the deity during throughout the day and at night. The trust office-bearers and workers were present.
