Pune: Salaries Unpaid for 25 Months! Singhad Business School Employee Dies by Suicide After Video Calling Seniors

Pune: In a tragic incident, an employee of Sinhgad Business School’s Erandwane branch ended his life by suicide on Tuesday, reportedly due to non-payment of salary for 25 months. The deceased has been identified as Manoj Bhau Bhagat (37), a resident of Jaybhavaninagar, Kothrud.
According to a complaint filed by Navnath Bhagat at the Kothrud Police Station, Manoj had been working at the Erandwane branch and had repeatedly followed up with the institute’s seniors for his salary. Despite his efforts, he did not receive any payment.
For the past 15 days, employees at the institute had been on a hunger strike, protesting the prolonged delay in salary disbursement. Manoj had also participated in the agitation. On Tuesday, he reportedly video called senior officials at the Sinhgad Institute and expressed his intention to end his life due to the continued neglect. When he received no assurance or response, he informed his friends that he was frustrated and could no longer bear the situation.
Later that afternoon, around 4:30 PM, he was found hanging in his home.
This incident has brought attention to the long-standing issue at Sinhgad Institutes, where around 6,000 teaching and non-teaching staff have not been paid for the last 25 months. Despite numerous follow-ups, the administration has allegedly failed to take any action, pushing employees into severe financial distress—now culminating in this heartbreaking loss.
