Pune: The Motor Transport Department of the Pune City Police has added 9 brand new KIA four-wheeler vehicles to its fleet, aimed at strengthening city patrolling and operational agility. Currently, the department operates 959 official police vehicles, including 514 four-wheelers and 445 two-wheelers.

Across the 39 police stations under the Pune Commissionerate, 39 CR mobile units and 123 beat marshal vehicles are deployed for round-the-clock patrolling, playing a vital role in maintaining law and order in the city.

With Pune’s rapidly growing population and the establishment of 7 new police stations, the nature of policing has become more complex and demanding. The need for reliable, modern vehicles has grown significantly—for tasks including law enforcement, VVIP escort duty, patrolling, transporting accused to courts, and investigative travel.

To address this need, the Motor Transport Department has been actively upgrading its fleet. Previously, 670 outdated vehicles were decommissioned and auctioned, resulting in a vehicle shortage in line with current operational demands.

In response, City Corporation Ltd. (Amanora), under its CSR initiative, has officially donated 9 brand new four-wheeler vehicles to the Pune City Police through a formal procurement process. These new vehicles will be dedicated to patrolling duties, enhancing both mobility and efficiency of the police force.

On May 28, 2025, City Corporation Ltd. (Amanora)’s Managing Director Aniruddha Deshpande formally handed over the vehicles to Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar during an official ceremony, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajkumar Shinde and other officials.

This act of corporate collaboration marks a significant contribution to the police department’s infrastructure and is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening public safety across Pune.
