Not just eyesight but insight is also essential to bring about social reform: Janhavi Dhariwal Balan

Pune: The Rasiklal Manikchand Dhariwal (RMD) Foundation organised a free eye check-up camp to celebrate the birthday of its Vice-President Shobhatai R Dhariwal.
Speaking on the occasion, Janhavi Dhariwal Balan, President, RMD Foundation, said, “Not just eyesight but insight is also essential to bring about social reform.”
The eye check-up camp was held at HV Desai Eye Hospital. During the camp, cataract surgeries of 501 patients, distribution of scholarships to medical students, a blood donation camp, and tree plantation drives at RMD English schools at Kondhwa, Lonidhamni, Kasari, Navlewadi, and Pimpri Pendhar villages were conducted.
Key dignitaries including, Shobhatai R Dhariwal, Janhavi Dhariwal Balan, Nitinbhai Desai, Trustee, HV Desai Eye Hospital, Punit Balan, President, Punit Balan Group, members of Indrani Balan Foundation, Parvez Billimoria, Executive Director, hospital staff, trainee doctors, and media representatives were present.
Janhavi shared how Rasiklal Dhariwal’s vision led to impactful projects like a free cancer hospital in Gujarat, a trauma care centre at Sassoon Hospital, RMD Hospital and Research Centre in Nashik and a cardiac cell at Poona Hospital, pharmacy, management and engineering colleges, English medium schools, scholarships for meritorious and needy students for higher education, desilting of Khadakwasla dam to protect environment, and building weirs for farmers.
Punit Balan emphasized that contributing a part of one’s income to society is a moral responsibility and assured full support to the hospital’s initiatives on the occasion of Shobhatai’s birthday.
Cheques for cataract surgeries and scholarships were distributed, and blood donors were felicitated with certificates.
