Pune: Punit Balan Group has distributed kits of essential items to 8,000 police officers and personnel, who will be deployed in Pandharpur on bandobast duty.

The beneficiaries include 6,000 men and 2,000 women cops. The police force will not face inconvenience during bandobast duty as the kit includes essential items. Thus, they will be able to carry out their duty efficiently.

Lakhs of warkaris (devotees of Vitthal), walking along the palkhi processions of Santshresht Shri Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Jagadguru Sant Shri Tukaram Maharaj and other Sants, gather in Pandharpur for the annual pilgrimage on the auspicious occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi. This year the Ashadhi Wari Sohala (celebrations) will be held on July 6.

Therefore, 8,000 police personnel and officers, including 6,000 policemen and 2,000 policewomen, will be deployed to ensure security to many VIPs and VVIPs, along with lakhs of warkaris. The police force will camp at the pilgrim centre for eight days during the celebrations. Therefore, Pandharpur SDPO Dr Arjun Bhosale, through a letter, sought the essential items kits from Young Entrepreneur Punit Balan.

Thus, Balan immediately provided the kits, which have been handed over to Pandharpur PSI Mahadev Pisal. Punit Balan Group provided the kits to the police last year too.

Items in the kit

The kit bag comprises a Colgate toothpaste pouch, Parachute coconut oil, Odomos mosquito repellent, Glucose powder, Dettol bathing soap, peanut chikki, a mask, a water bottle and sanitary pads for policewomen.

QUOTE

“The police carry out their duty of providing security to warkaris, who visit Pandharpur to bow before their deity Vitthal. These cops brave the elements and take care of a very risky task. Therefore, the essential items kits have been given to the police on demand so that they are not inconvenienced. I am satisfied that this has given us an opportunity to serve warkaris in a small way.”
