Pune: Punit Balan Group’s combined Dahi-Handi to be DJ-free ! Dhol-Tasha, band, Worli beats traditional musical instruments
Main attraction will be Ujjain-based Shiv Mahakal programme
Pune: The Punit Balan Group (PBG)-organised combined Dahi-Handi of 23 renowned Ganpati mandals will be celebrated without DJ music. This year, the celebrations will have traditional Dhol-Tasha, Prabhat Band, Mumbai-based famous Worli beats with their instrumental music. This was revealed by PBG President and Young Entrepreneur Punit Balan.
The combined Dahi-Handi celebrations were started last year at the Lal Mahal Chowk on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road. Balan took the lead and organised the combined event to ease traffic snarls at major chowks in the heart of the city and to reduce the resulting stress on the police department. Responding to his appeal, 35 Ganesh mandals participated in the combined Dahi-Handi celebrations. Now, in the second consecutive year, the initiative will continue. However, Punit Balan has declared that the Ganesh Festival will be organised without the deafening DJ music. Therefore, the Dahi-Handi will also be broken amidst playing of traditional instruments.
The Dahi-Handi celebrations will begin with Yuva Vadya Pathak, Samarth Pathak, Ramanbaug and Shivmudra Dhol-Tasha performances. Later, Prabhat Band will play traditional songs. Mumbai-based famous Banjo Worli Beats will perform amidst Govindas’ forming of human pyramids to break the Dahi-Handi. A major attraction of the event will be Ujjain-based Shiv Mahakal programme, said Punit Balan.
