Pune: Gas Cylinder Thief Arrested in Khadki; Organized Racket Exposed, 23 Cylinders Seized (Video)
Pune : In the Khadki area of Pune, incidents of gas cylinder theft had been on the rise over the past few days. Thieves targeted delivery tempos and stole filled cylinders, disrupting the supply of this essential commodity.
The Khadki Police traced and arrested the main accused, identified as Kiran Laxman Jambhale (37, resident of Bibwewadi). A total of 23 gas cylinders worth lakhs were recovered from his possession.
According to the police, this was an organized racket, and more stolen cylinders along with additional accomplices are likely to be found. Acting on inputs from senior officers, a special team used technical surveillance and secret intelligence to track suspicious movements, set up a trap, and successfully nab the accused.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner Manoj Patil, DCP Somay Munde, and ACP Vitthal Dabhade. Police have appealed to citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity or illegal dealings related to gas cylinders in the area.
