Pune : Suspicion of Affair Leads to Murder: Cousin Arrested for Killing Youth and Dumping Body on Gujarwadi Hill within 36 Hours
Pune: In a shocking crime, a man murdered his younger cousin over the suspicion that he was involved in an illicit relationship with his wife. The accused slit the victim’s throat with a knife, stuffed the body into a sack, and dumped it on Gujarwadi Hill. Bharati Vidyapeeth Police cracked the case within 36 hours while investigating a missing person complaint.
The victim was identified as Ajaykumar Ganesh Pandit (22). The accused, Ashok Pandit (35, resident of Moshi), has been arrested. The incident took place on the night of November 17.
Both men were cousins hailing from Jharkhand. Ashok had shifted to Pune nearly nine years ago, while Ajay had come four years earlier for work. Ajay stayed in a labour camp at Khopdenagar. On November 17, he left home saying he was going to buy vegetables and never returned. A missing complaint was later filed.
During the investigation, police learned about disputes between Ajay and Ashok regarding Ajay’s alleged relationship with Ashok’s wife. Technical tracking of Ashok’s mobile helped the police trace him to the Pimpri area, where he was arrested. Ashok confessed that he had taken Ajay to a hill area, attacked him with a knife on his neck and abdomen, and later disposed of the body in a sack in the Gujar Nimbalkarwadi hill area.
Police recovered the body based on his information. The entire operation was carried out under the supervision of senior officials.
