Pune: 171 Lost Mobile Phones Returned to Citizens; Retrieved from 9 Police Stations Under Zone-5
Pune: The Pune Police delivered a heartwarming initiative by returning 171 lost mobile phones to their rightful owners. These phones had gone missing from areas under nine police stations in Zone-5. A special event was held at Netaji Mangal Karyalaya on Manjari Road, Hadapsar, where Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Rajkumar Shinde personally handed over the recovered phones to citizens. Many expressed that their mobile phones were not just devices but emotionally valuable possessions.
The recovery was made possible through CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) entries, complaints filed on the Pune Police website’s Lost & Found portal, and meticulous technical tracking.
DCP Dr. Shinde explained how the CEIR system works and detailed the technical processes used by police to trace lost phones. He said:
“Today, mobile phones are an inseparable part of life. Losing them creates anxiety. We try our best to ensure that the trust citizens place in the police is upheld.”
Citizens who received their phones back thanked the police, saying they never expected to recover them but now have increased trust in the police force.
This operation was conducted under the guidance of senior police officials and the coordinated efforts of multiple police teams.
