Pune: Bandu and Shivam Andekar Sent to Dhule Jail; Accused of Extorting ‘Protection Money’

In a case involving the alleged extortion of traders in Ganesh Peth’s fish market under the guise of ‘protection money,’ notorious Andekar gang leader Bandu Andekar and his nephew Shivam Andekar have been remanded to judicial custody. As per the Pune MCOCA court’s orders, both have been shifted to Dhule prison.

A case has been registered at Faraskhana Police Station against a total of 11 accused, including Bandu alias Suryakant Ranoj Andekar, his son Krishna Andekar, and nephew Shivam Andekar. The gang is accused of extorting over ₹20 crore from traders. Police investigations revealed deposits of ₹21.60 crore in the accused persons’ bank accounts. Following interrogation, both were produced before the court on Friday, where they were sent to judicial custody.
