Pune: An illegal hookah parlour was being run in a pub in Bavdhan. Therefore, the police acted against the pub on January 12.

Earlier, another incident in Bavdhan came to light, where a liquor party and DJ music, held to celebrate the birthday of a rich person, disturbed local residents throughout the night.

These incidents raise a question over the efficiency of the Bavdhan Police Station. Action was taken against Bombay Bistro Resto Bar for running an illegal hookah parlour. Valuables worth Rs 6,400 were seized. Soumyaranjan Shishirkumar Behra (21), resident of Wakad, and Rahul Shrikant Kulkarni (37), resident of Bhugaon, were booked in this regard. Policeman Dattatraya Shinde lodged a complaint.

According to the police, they received a tip-off that an illegal hookah parlour was being run at Bombay Bistro Resto Bar within the limits of the Bavdhan Police Station. The police raided the bar and found that there was no separate zone for smoking hookah. Customers were eating and smoking at the same place. The hookah parlour was being run without any authorised permission.

Therefore, the police acted against a staffer and the manager of the bar. Valuables worth Rs 6,400 were confiscated in the raid.

Sr PI Anil Vibhute said, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the liquor sale permit of the bar belongs to a woman. We are searching for the bar owner. We are also finding out the number of partners and whether they have a legal lease document.”
