Pune: RPI (A) workers take oath to not vote for Maha Yuti
Pune: The RPI (Athawale) has resolved that it would not vote for the Maha Yuti in the backdrop of the State Assembly elections. The decision has been apparently made as the ruling alliance does not respect Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s thoughts.
RPI (A) workers and office-bearers demanded at least one seat from the Maha Yuti in the city. The party has been an alliance partner in every election in the past 10 years but the BJP did not treat them well. Not a single seat was given to the party in the city and the district. Therefore, the RPI (A) office-bearers and workers condemned it and took an oath that they would not vote for Maha Yuti candidates. Former Deputy Mayor Dr Siddharth Dhende administered the oath to them.
Dr Dhende said, “We will vote for the blue flag and Dr Ambedkar’s thoughts in this election. We will not vote for Maha Yuti, who is not treating our party with dignity.” The oath-taking took place in the Pune Railway Station area. Ayyub Shaikh, Farzana Shaikh, Maulana Kari Mobshir Ahmad, Hanumant Gaikwad, Tanaji Gaikwad, Ishwar Ovhal, office-bearers and workers were present. Around 250 office-bearers were present.
Dr Dhende said, “We are unhappy as not a single seat has been allotted to our party in the State polls in Maharashtra. Followers of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar are upset about this. Many office-bearers and workers in the city will work against the Maha Yuti. It will reflect in election results.”
Ayyub Shaikh said, “The RPI (A), Dalits and Muslims are used during the elections. These downtrodden communities are conveniently forgotten after the polls.”
The office-bearers resolved that they would not allow communal forces to come to power in the State.
