Kharadi Police Register Case Following Alleged Attack
Pune : Pune Police have registered a case against the husband of a corporator and seven others in connection with the alleged assault of a worker during a land dispute in Kharadi.
The main accused has been identified as Pritam Prataprao Khandve (41), a resident of Patil Wasti in Lohgaon and husband of corporator Dr. Shreyas Khandve.
Worker Alleges Assault with Stone and Sharp Weapon
According to the complaint filed by Altaf Amjad Shaikh (26), a resident of Aaple Ghar Society in Kharadi, the accused allegedly entered the disputed property with a JCB machine despite restrictions imposed on them.
Shaikh, who works as a caretaker for landowner Parvati Jeevan Patil, claimed that when he tried to stop them and informed them that he would first contact the owner, one of the accused allegedly snatched his mobile phone.
Serious Injuries Sustained During the Attack
The complaint alleges that Pritam Khandve instructed his associates to assault the worker. Pankaj Patole allegedly struck Shaikh on the head with a stone and attacked his chest with an iron weapon, causing severe injuries and bleeding.
Abhishek Khadke and Suraj allegedly held the victim and assaulted him with kicks and punches, while Pritam Khandve is also accused of issuing death threats.
Victim Took Shelter in Watchman’s Cabin
Following the attack, the injured worker managed to escape and took refuge in a watchman’s cabin. He then informed landowner Parvati Patil about the incident. Kharadi Police later reached the spot and rescued him.
Previous Restrictions Had Been Imposed
Police said the land dispute had earlier led to legal proceedings. Following a previous complaint, the Tehsildar had reportedly issued orders restraining Pritam Khandve and his associates from entering Survey No. 132/2.
Investigation Underway
Besides Pritam Khandve, police have booked Pankaj Sanjay Patole, Abhishek Khadke, Suraj, JCB driver Chhotu, and three others. Further investigation in the case is being carried out by Police Constable Santosh Mhetre.
