Pune: In a landmark judgment, the Pune Sessions Court sentenced Dhananjay Sakharam Rajeevde to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment for the gang rape of two minor sisters. The heinous crime took place in April 2015 when Rajeevde, along with two minor accomplices, abducted the girls under false promises of marriage and subsequently raped them. The Additional Sessions Judge, S.R. Salunke, presided over the case, and Special Public Prosecutor Nitin Konghe led the prosecution.

Rajeevde was also fined ₹7,500, with a provision for additional imprisonment in case of non-payment. The judgment was based on compelling evidence and testimonies, including statements from the victims, their relatives, and the investigative team. The court acknowledged the gravity of the crime, emphasizing the need for stringent punishment to deter such offenses.

According to the prosecution, Rajeevde deceived the victims into believing they were being taken to their future spouses, only to subject them to sexual assault. The police arrested the accused within three days of the incident, leading to a prompt judicial process.

The court’s decision sends a strong message about the severe consequences of such crimes, aiming to provide justice to the victims and their families. This case highlights the critical role of swift legal action and effective prosecution in addressing crimes against women and children.
