Pune: Sinhagad Police arrest externed goon, his accomplice for entering Pune, possessing pistol, live cartridge

Pune: An externed goon, involved in serious crimes such as attempt to murder, narcotics sale, etc, was externed. But he came to the city carrying a firearm. The Sinhagad Police arrested him and his accomplice.

The arrested accused has been identified as Kiran Vitthal Shinde (23), resident of Narhe, and Mayur alias Anand Nandkishore Wakode (19), resident of Ambegaon.

Policeman Deva Ramesh Chavan lodged a complaint at the Sinhagad Police Station in this regard. Shinde is a hardened criminal. An attempt to murder case was registered against him when he was a minor. The Hadapsar Police arrested him while he was selling the Mephentermine sulphate injection within their jurisdiction.

Kiran Shinde was a member of the Neeraj Dhawale gang, against whom the police invoked the MCOCA. DCP Sambhaji Kadam externed Shinde for two years on January 10, 2024.

A police team from the Sinhagad Police Station comprising API Sachin Nikam, PSI Santosh Bhandwalkar, police personnel Taru, Bhorde, Olekar, Patil and Mohite was patrolling on April 23. When they arrived at Dhayari Phata, they received a tip-off that goon Shinde and his accomplice were standing near Prayeja City on the Pune-Mumbai Highway and he was carrying a pistol. The police team reached the spot and detained them. The pistol was recovered from Shinde and a live cartridge was seized from Wakode. They were later arrested. API Sachin Nikam was investigating.
